The San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District (SMCISD) Board of Trustees approved the 2023-24 academic calendar at their regular school board meeting on March 6. The calendar includes the first day of school, holidays, and other important dates.
The first day of school will be on August 16, 2023, with the last day of school scheduled for May 30, 2024. The calendar also includes two weeks of winter break, one week of spring break, and a week of Thanksgiving break.
The SMCISD board also approved an early release day on October 4, 2023 and a professional development day on February 15, 2024. The board also approved the dates for the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) mandated STAAR testing.
The TEA required STAAR testing will take place on April 16, 2024 for high school students, April 17, 2024 for middle school students, and April 18, 2024 for elementary school students.
The SMCISD board also approved a calendar for the 2022-23 school year. The first day of school for the 2022-23 school year is scheduled for August 15, 2022, with the last day of school scheduled for June 1, 2023.
