Dr. Cade Smith, superintendent of New Braunfels ISD, submitted his resignation effective March 13th. The NBISD board of trustees accepted his resignation at that time. Smith began his tenure as superintendent in June 2021 after serving as superintendent in Brock ISD and in roles in Georgetown ISD.
Kara Bock, former New Braunfels High School principal and current assistant superintendent for curriculum and accountability, will serve as acting superintendent of schools until an interim superintendent can be found to begin work at NBISD.
NBISD Board President Eric Bergquist expressed his gratitude for Smith’s hard work and dedication to the district and added that the district remains committed to providing students with the best possible education. Bergquist also highlighted the progress made by the district over the last two years and expressed his confidence in the administrative team, teachers, and staff.
The district is now focused on finding an interim superintendent to continue the progress made.
