The City of New Braunfels is calling for a $140 million bond to be placed on the May ballot. The bond would fund a variety of projects, from road improvements to public parks. The largest portion of the bond, $80 million, is allocated for road projects. The remaining $60 million is set aside for infrastructure and park projects. The proposed bond would provide the city with its first public park west of Loop 337, Mission Hill Park. The park would feature a variety of amenities such as walking trails, a playground, and an amphitheater.
The bond is part of the 2023 bond package and is set to be voted on in May. If approved, the bond would be the largest bond package in the city’s history.
