Elon Musk is venturing into real estate development as he has partnered with Lennar to build a 110-home subdivision on former farmland in Bastrop, Texas. This neighborhood is close to where Musk moved his Boring Company operations and where he is constructing a SpaceX facility. The homes, which may be 3D-printed, will be located on streets named Boring Boulevard, Cutterhead Crossing, Waterjet Way, and Porpoise Place, referencing tunnel-boring technology. It is being marketed as workforce housing for Tesla, SpaceX, or the Boring Company employees, but there are no details about affordability. The area is quickly suburbanizing due to an influx of tech workers, and Musk has already built housing for employees at the Boring Company campus. Project Amazing is one of many communities being developed by Lennar in the Austin metropolitan area. Lennar is also an investor in the Boring Company and has provided millions of dollars to help Musk’s tunnel projects. The new housing development could help solve traffic congestion by allowing workers to live closer to their workplaces.
