Texas lawmakers have taken steps to improve the infrastructure of Central Texas. House Speaker Dade Phelan recently announced the filing of three House priority bills, with an emphasis on helping more Texans access water and the internet. House Bill 9 seeks to create the Texas Broadband Infrastructure Fund, which would be used to expand access to the internet across Texas, provide better broadband connectivity in schools, support 911 services and more. House Bill 10 aims to strengthen Texas’ water infrastructure and security, creating the Texas Water Fund to finance local projects to treat and desalinate water, find new water sources and acquire water from other states. House Bill 14 seeks to increase access to housing by streamlining local property development and building review projects.
