The Texas Department of Transportation will be closing the northbound and southbound main lanes of I-35 as well as the Williams Drive bridge overnight on March 8 and 9. This closure is part of the $61.7 million Diverging Diamond Intersection (DDI) project at Williams Drive. The installation of the DDI is expected to be complete in late 2023.

Traffic going east on Williams Drive will be detoured to the southbound I-35 frontage road where they will make a U-turn at Hwy. 29. Similarly, westbound traffic on Williams Drive will use the northbound I-35 frontage road and make a left turn at Lakeway Drive.

The closures will take place from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. both evenings. Northbound through traffic will be detoured onto the frontage road using the Williams Drive exit and will re-enter the highway north of Northwest Boulevard. Similarly, southbound traffic will detour at Williams Drive and re-enter using the Hwy. 29 ramp.
